AG’s Spring Release; My Opinions

Hello, peeps! I’ve been meaning to do this post for a while, but with Michelle arriving, and juggling two blogs, it got significantly pushed back. But, now, as I find myself with a rare bit of space in my blogging itinerary, I’m doing it right now. Let’s jump right in with Luciana!

Luciana Vega Doll and Book, $115

I must say, Luciana is a lovely doll! Her dress is very into the theme, but I personally think it was just a tad overdone-I think a shirt and galaxy printed skirt would be more practical. That’s just me though. The side bangs and purple streak were a nice touch!

Luciana’s Stellar Outfit, $34

I like this! A+ for the patches, hehe. This is a minor detail, but I really like that the jacket is a bit big for her, as if she was expected to grow into it.

Luciana’s Mars HabitatL

Luciana’s Mars Habitat, $350

My first thought was that this was grossly overpriced. I mean, playing that your dolls going to Mars will get old after a while, and then what can you do with it? I try not to buy ‘unitasker’ doll items and this, unfortunately, is definitely a unitasker.

Luciana’s Telescope Projector Set, $40

So this is cute, and definitely on topic, but…forty dollars? Er, no. I do like that it projects stars ontoย  ceiling or wall, but that does not constitute a $40 price tag. I will most emphatically be DIYing this.

Luciana’s Maker Station, $100

Again, not worth the price. It does have some useful pieces, though. I may or may not craft some of the items. (such as the plants!)

Luciana’s Pajamas, $34

THE SLIPPERS!! I really want this, as itย  could be used as everyday clothes, great for mixing and matching.

Moving on to Truly Me releases!

Truly Me’s #74, #75, #76, and #77

I have mixed feelings about this bunch of gentlemen. I like that AG released boy dolls, but I’m not a big fan of the dolls themselves. I think an open mouth with teeth showing would be more natural looking. I have been considering getting a boy doll, but if I do, I’ll be making one.

Sun and Fun Outfit, $28

I’m sorry, American Girl, but this looks like something an old man would wear. Thumbs down.

FLL06_Dinomite_Outfit_1.jpgApologies for the small picture

Dino-Mite Outfit, $28

Well…it’s OK, I suppose, but this hits a little below the target age range, I think.

New Mix ‘n’ Match Pieces, $10 ea.

AUGH! SO CUTE AND MIXABLE! My only critique is that those sequined shorts look rather itchy-wouldn’t they be better as a skirt?

New Truly Me Shoes, $10 ea.

Love, love, love! Those boots are d-a-r-l-i-n-g! The only quirk is that I can’t tell if those blue sneakers are for the boy dolls or the girls….

New Truly Me Accessories, $10 ea.

Oooooooh, I am loving the glasses! Such a pretty color. And the bag is to die for, as well as the beanie.

American Girl Snack Stand, $85

Again, not worth the price, but I will definitely be making this myself!

Explore the Outdoors Outfit, $28

This is totally something I would wear! A+ for the jacket and sandals.

Sunny Day Dress, $28

Very cute and flattering, but somehow I’m not digging it.

What was your favorite release item?

  1. Yes!! They finally made boy dolls (besides Logan) I do hope that eventually they make historical boy dolls (like…maybe a Ben Davidson doll?). Though I am not sure about the sun outfit, but I think that the boy doll looks handsome in it.

      1. Me too!:) I just hope American Girl read my post about it…
Also wouldn’t it be awesome if they made him look like how Ben looked in Felicity’s movie.

True…it is odd that they made Elizabeth have blonde hair instead of brown (or black) hair.
I almost feel like they changed that for Elizabeth’s book: Very Funny Elizabeth.
And Felicity in the book is described as having red hair but the doll has more auburn (or light brown) than red.
It’s interesting…I wonder why the dolls are different from the books.
